By Professor Aidan Moran Concentration is a practical skill which can enrich our lives considerably. Unfortunately, most of us are probably more familiar with losing our concentration than with effective “focusing” ability.
This recording will explore concentration in three stages. Firstly, it will explain what concentration is, show you how it’s influenced by your attitudes and emotions, and give you some practical tips to improve your listening and reading skills. Secondly, it will help you to analyse and deal with common distractions in your life. Finally, it will present some practical “focusing” strategies which will help you to improve your concentration in a variety of daily situations.
This audio presentation features Professor Aidan Moran who is a Professor of Cognitive Psychology and Director of the Psychology Research Laboratory in University College, Dublin. Aidan is an expert in the use of psychological techniques which can improve people’s concentration and performance in academic and sporting situations. It is narrated by Emma Thurston and Professor Aidan Moran.

How this audio learning experience works
This audio presentation has been designed using an experiential learning model, Kolb, D. A. (1984): concrete learning, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation.
By taking this approach we hope to cater for all learning styles.
You will be given specific new information in the recording usually as “key tips”, “explanations” and “quotes”. You will be led through a gentle but positive meditative reflection process to assist you before conceptualisation and then putting your new skills into practice.
You will be encouraged to return to the recording from time to time to re-listen and reinforce your learning and the desired changes in your life.
